The Pixley & Reed Seminar at Black Flag Jiu-Jitsu

The Pixley & Reed Seminar at Black Flag Jiu-Jitsu

Posted by Aaron Lynde on

Black Flag Jiu-Jitsu recently had the honor of hosting two of the most accomplished wrestlers in the Midwest, Michael Pixley and Brandon Reed, for a two-day seminar that left every attendee with more knowledge of wrestling and jiu-jitsu.

For those who couldn’t make it, or want to rewatch and take notes, we’ve dropped a full seminar video from the weekend on our YouTube channel.

The first day focused on wrestling applications for grappling, a lesson into setups, hand fighting, and positional transitions that work specifically in the context of no-gi jiu-jitsu.

The second day went back to wrestling mechanics. From chain wrestling drills to scramble management, attendees got to feel firsthand the intensity and detail that define high-level folkstyle and freestyle.

Having guys like Pixley and Reed in the room a week before CJI 2 was a great experience. Both athletes came up through serious wrestling programs, competed at elite levels, and now bring that experience to the next generation of grapplers.

Black Flag Jiu-Jitsu is built on the belief that skill is built under pressure, and this seminar was a perfect example of that. Whether you’re a jiu-jitsu athlete trying to build confidence on your feet or a wrestler looking to transition to the submission game, weekends like this are where things click.

If you missed it, or want to revisit the material, we’ve put together a highlight video that captures techniques, and intensity of both sessions.
